Recently I helped a group named Thank You Walt Disney paint the outside of the Laugh-O-Gram studios on 31st and Troost. In the first picture you can see what the studio looked like before the organization got to fixing it up. What they're doing is important to the city's history and the history of animation. They are still taking donations so head over to their website and doooooo it.
American Royal Barbecue poster for my illustration class and for the ARB contest. I'm fairly happy with how it turned out. It's no winner though. I'm ok with that.
The first project for my illustration class. We had to illustrate the article "The People vs. Dick Cheney". I did a drawing with some textures overlayed.
This is the film by Kuni Kato that won best animated short at the oscars last night. For those who haven't seen it, it really is an amazing short and was one of my favorites to win. Here is the piece in two parts for those who missed it.
I've taken an unnecessarily long break from updating my blog and that, as of now, shall cease. This is a pitch idea i did for the end of last semester. Expect to hear from me more often now!
so i was attempting to work on illustrations for my teddy bear book today and this is what happened. I blame my uncontrollable anxiousness for thursday at midknight. HELLS YES
this is my final for the spring. it was a great experience in learning how to incorporate everything from the hand drawn aspect to the computer aspect to pull everything together. enjoy!
this is a test for my final animation. the bear is going to be following a butterfly. i still lots to do though. it makes me feel good to have something to show though.
this is some hand drawn experimenting i've been doing with some chroma keying and trying to hone my character skills some more. kind of a tribute to the looney tunes which is definitely what made me interested in animation in the first place
so i've been trying to get better at photoshop painting because i've been avoiding it because i'm scared of it. i decided to man up and tackle it head on. this is photoshop painting one for me and it was interesting. as i painted him he got progressively more pissed off looking. most likely reflecting my emotions toward him at the time.
this is my final animation for my fall semester. I have never worked so hard on anything in my entire life. seriously. it took about a month to do and in the last couple of weeks before it was due i didn't sleep too much. but i am psyched i got my first full animation finished and am still alive. it was a lot of fun. next semester we're adding sound to these too so i'm looking forward to that. until then i finally have some me time over the christmas break and can do whatever the hell i want! booyah!

in my designing the frame class we had to make 5 frames depicting a pivotal scene in the fairy tale snow drop. i never realized how different that is from the disney snow white but its really different. this is my take on it and i decided to do the scene when the hunter is ordered to go out and kill her but can't do it. we had to blend photographs with our drawings in photoshop. this took me forever considering i am not a photoshop guru and didnt know many shortcuts so i took the long way around in doing most of this. fun though
The tell tale heart as interpreted by me for a class assignment in designing the frame. this was a big step forward for me in the digital art realm and i'm happy to report that i partially know what i am doing now. its only improvement from here i'm hoping!
3rd animation of the semester and this one gave me a run for my money. it was pretty tough but i had a lot of fun with it. moving on to my weight animation now!
my second animation. this assignment was breathe and hold, and anticipation. i'm pretty happy with it minus the shadow i kept casting over it. annoying.
my first animation of my sophmore year! this is my hummingbird and it was tons o fun. it is a little shorter than i wanted it to be but unseen circumstances kind of got in the way and my time got cut down. but oh well, i'm happy with it. i can't wait to start my big project.
i've been surrounding myself with everything that is hummingbirds for the past week preparing to do an animation of one. i thought i would tire of looking at hummingbirds constantly but i'm actually having fun with it!
just a fairly quick poster i made for an office friend about some thing called, well, music cafe. It really helped me on my photoshop experimenting which i need to do more of
So I've been trying to get used to and use Photoshop on my drawings. I really like how it looks but teaching yourself is a bitch. I'm sure i took everything that should be simple and made it oh so complicated. This took me like 3 hours. I need a Photoshop teacher
